Grave myopathie, y compris de rhabdomyolyse avec insuffisance rénale aiguë secondaire à la myoglobinurie, a été rarement rapportés avec l'utilisation des inhibiteurs de l'HMG-CoA réductase. La myopathie peut être liée à la dose et est caractérisée par des douleurs musculaires et/ou de la faiblesse en conjonction avec l'augmentation de la créatine phosphokinase (CPK) les valeurs supérieures à 10 fois la limite supérieure de la normale. Le traitement avec les inhibiteurs de l'HMG-CoA réductase doit être administré avec prudence chez les patients souffrant déjà de myopathie, dans ceux avec des facteurs prédisposant à la myopathie ou avec une histoire de myoneural trouble, car il peut retarder la reconnaissance ou de fausser le diagnostic d'un induite par le médicament musculo-squelettiques effet. Les Patients doivent signaler rapidement toute douleur musculaire inhabituelle, la tendresse, ou la faiblesse, surtout s'il est accompagné d'une sensation de malaise ou de fièvre. Périodique CPK déterminations peut être envisagée chez certains patients, bien que la valeur de cette surveillance est incertain. Les inhibiteurs de l'HMG-CoA réductase traitement doit être retirée si nettement élevés de CPK niveaux se produisent ou si des médicaments liés à la myopathie est diagnostiquée ou soupçonnée.
