Les phénothiazines peuvent abaisser le seuil épileptogène et induire des crises, en particulier lorsque les doses sont élevées ou augmenté rapidement et, au cours de l'initiation de la thérapie. Des phénothiazines utilisé dans le traitement de la psychose, de la chlorpromazine semble avoir le plus grand potentiel épileptogène, tandis que la fluphénazine, et la thioridazine en ont le moins. La thérapie avec les phénothiazines doit être administré avec prudence chez les patients présentant des antécédents de convulsions ou des facteurs prédisposant aux convulsions, tels que EEG anormal, SNC pathologie préexistante, ou un traumatisme crânien. Adéquat traitement anticonvulsivant doit être maintenue lors de l'administration de phénothiazines.
