Consommateur:Des agents sympathomimétiques peuvent causer des effets cardiovasculaires indésirables, notamment lorsqu'ils sont utilisés à doses élevées et/ou chez les patients sensibles. Dans les tissus cardiaques, ces agents peuvent produire des résultats positifs chronotrope et inotrope effets via la stimulation de la bêta - 1 adrénergiques. Le débit cardiaque, la consommation d'oxygène, et le travail du cœur peut être augmenté. Dans la vascularisation périphérique, la vasoconstriction peut se produire via la stimulation de l'alpha-1 adrénergiques. Les Palpitations, la tachycardie, l'arythmie, hypertension, bradycardie réflexe, occlusion coronaire, vascularite cérébrale, infarctus du myocarde, arrêt cardiaque et de décès ont été rapportés. Certains de ces agents, en particulier de l'éphédra alcaloïdes (éphédrine, ma huang, phénylpropanolamine), peuvent aussi prédisposer les patients hémorragiques et de l'avc ischémique. Le traitement avec des agents sympathomimétiques doit généralement être évitée ou administré avec prudence chez les patients avec une sensibilité aux amines sympathomimétiques, l'hyperthyroïdie, ou cardiovasculaire sous-jacente ou des troubles cérébro-vasculaires. Ces agents ne doit pas être utilisé chez les patients atteints de la maladie coronarienne grave ou sévère, hypertension non contrôlée.
