Les sulfamides peuvent être une absorption systémique lorsqu'il est appliqué à la peau, les yeux ou les muqueuses. Une fois absorbés, les sulfamides et de leurs métabolites sont éliminés par les reins. Les Patients atteints d'insuffisance rénale peuvent être plus à risque pour les effets indésirables de sulfamides due à une diminution de la clairance du médicament. En outre, les sulfamides peuvent provoquer une toxicité rénale secondaire à une cristallurie, y compris uro - et lithiase rénale, néphrite toxique néphrose, hématurie, protéinurie, et élévation de l'azote uréique du sang et de la créatinine. Hydratation adéquate et le débit urinaire (> 1,5 L/jour) doit être maintenue pendant le sulfonamide de l'administration. Tests de la fonction rénale et de la prise d'échantillons d'urine doivent être effectuées régulièrement au cours du traitement prolongé (> 2 semaines).
