Adrénergiques bronchodilatateurs peuvent entraîner des augmentations des concentrations de glucose de sang. Ces effets sont généralement transitoires et légère, mais peut être importante avec des doses plus élevées que celles normalement recommandé. De grandes doses de IV albuterol (pas disponible dans le commerce aux états-UNIS) et la terbutaline sulfate ont été signalés à l'origine de l'exacerbation d'un diabète préexistant et l'acidocétose. La thérapie avec les récepteurs adrénergiques bronchodilatateurs doit être administré avec prudence chez les patients atteints de diabète sucré. Une surveillance étroite des concentrations de glucose de sang peut être approprié. Effets indésirables systémiques sont réduits au minimum, mais pas abolie, par l'administration de ces agents par inhalation orale.
