Les immunosuppresseurs et anti-inflammatoires effets des corticostéroïdes, en particulier dans des dosages plus élevés, peuvent diminuer la résistance de l'hôte à des agents infectieux, diminution de la capacité à localiser les infections, et masque les symptômes de l'infection. Des infections secondaires peuvent être plus susceptibles de développer. La thérapie par inhalation et par voie nasale corticostéroïdes doit être administré avec prudence chez les patients avec une infection, particulièrement actif ou au repos de l'infection tuberculeuse de l'appareil respiratoire ou de tout non traitée systémique fongiques, bactériennes, parasitaires ou virales infection. Bien que les effets indésirables des corticostéroïdes peut être minimisé en local plutôt que l'administration systémique, les risques ne sont pas totalement aboli. L'inhalation et par voie nasale appliquée médicament peut être absorbé dans la circulation, en particulier lorsque des doses élevées sont utilisées. Il est important que les doses recommandées de produits, pour ne pas être dépassé et que la plus faible dose efficace être utilisé.
