Les corticostéroïdes peut provoquer un ulcère gastro-duodénal et gastro-intestinaux (GI) hémorragie, généralement lorsqu'ils sont administrés à des doses élevées ou pendant des périodes prolongées. Cependant, même conventionnel, les doses peuvent aggraver les symptômes chez les patients avec des antécédents d'ulcères gastro-duodénaux. Retard de cicatrisation des ulcères a également été signalés. Le traitement avec des corticostéroïdes doivent être évitées ou administré avec prudence chez les patients avec latente ou active les ulcères gastro-duodénaux ou d'autres facteurs de risque d'hémorragie gastro-intestinale. Certains cliniciens recommandent l'utilisation prophylactique des antiacides ou des antagonistes H2 entre les repas, lorsque de fortes doses de corticostéroïdes sont nécessaires.
