Les anticholinergiques sont contre-indiqués chez les patients atteints de maladies obstructives telles que l'achalasie, sténose de l'œsophage ou de sténose, pyloroduodenal sténose, stenosing ulcère gastro-duodénal, l'obstruction du pylore, et à l'iléus paralytique. Les anticholinergiques peuvent encore supprimer la motilité intestinale et provoquer des précipitations ou de l'aggravation de mégacôlon toxique.
