L'utilisation de la niacine et niacinamide (nicotinamide), à des doses nettement supérieures à celles pour les exigences physiologiques est contre-indiqué chez les patients présentant une maladie de l'ulcère peptique. Ces agents ont été signalés à activer un ulcère gastro-duodénal. Traitement à l'aide de dosages pharmacologiques (par exemple, diminution des lipides sanguins doses) doit être administré avec prudence chez les patients présentant des antécédents d'ulcère gastro-duodénal.
