Les Quinolones (sauf trovafloxacine, la moxifloxacine, et à l'acide nalidixique) et leurs métabolites sont éliminés par les reins. Les Patients atteints d'insuffisance rénale peuvent être plus à risque pour les effets indésirables à partir des quinolones, y compris la néphrotoxicité, due à une diminution de la clairance du médicament. L'ajustement de la posologie peut être nécessaire et des modifications doit être basée sur le degré de l'insuffisance rénale et de la gravité de l'infection, selon l'état d'emballage du produit. Tests de la fonction rénale doit être effectuée périodiquement pendant le traitement.
