Les sulfonylurées sont métabolisés dans le foie, et de leurs métabolites (certains avec l'activité pharmacologique) sont excrétés dans l'urine et les fèces. Les Patients atteints d'insuffisance hépatique et/ou rénale traités avec les sulfonylurées peuvent être exposés à des plus élevés de sérum concentrations de médicaments, qui peuvent augmenter le risque de graves épisodes d'hypoglycémie induite par ces agents. En présence d'insuffisance hépatique, la capacité de la gluconéogenèse peut également être diminuée, ce qui aggrave le risque. La thérapie avec les sulfonylurées doit être administré avec prudence chez les patients avec le foie et/ou d'une maladie rénale. Réduit les doses et les intervalles plus longs entre les ajustements de la posologie peut être nécessaire. L'hypoglycémie, si elle se produit pendant le traitement, peut être prolongée chez ces patients en raison du ralentissement du métabolisme et/ou l'excrétion des médicaments.
